The Queens Head, Chislehurst

We visited the Queens Head in Chislehurst this week and we were welcomed to this lovely pub with its beautiful fires by the friendly and warm manager, Scott.

The Queens Head is both airy and comfortable with free O2 wifi and a wide range of both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. We can assure you that the tea and coffee are very good!

The bar staff are friendly, accommodating and smile a lot which is great to see. If the staff are happy then you know you’re in a good pub!

My companion ordered the fixed price two courses starting with the Soup of the Day (classic country vegetable) with Ham, Egg and Chips to follow. I ordered Cod and Chips which is one of my favourite meals and tends to be the standard by which I measure food in a pub because it is so easy to get wrong!

The pub was busy when we arrived so there was a little wait for our food as it is all cooked to order.

The soup was served with a toasted baguette and butter. The butter was soft so there wasn’t any of that annoying carving it into slices in order to use it as sometimes happens! My companion really enjoyed it and declared it “very good”!

When our main courses arrived they looked great on the plate which gave us confidence that our meal was going to be good.

My cod and chips had a very crisp beer batter which encased a beautifully cooked piece of fish. It was served with chips and peas along with a slice of lemon and a small bowl of tartare sauce. I would definitely eat it again!

My companion’s food looked great on the plate – a substantial portion of ham with two fried eggs, chips and peas. He said the ham tasted really good and that he found it to be a very generous portion.

We got our food and drinks on the house as we were writing a review but that didn’t influence us – it was good, reasonably priced food in a lovely pub with a friendly host and staff that were fabulous.

Would we go back there? Yes!!
